Investment Accountant

We are seeking an Investment Accountant to join our dedicated and high-performing team.  

As the Investment Accountant, you will work closely with the fiscal team as it maintains the accounting and fiscal operations of the agency and its investment portfolio of more than $21 billion. This key role will perform investment reconciling, monitoring, and reporting, investment accounting, and prepare annual financial reports. 

To thrive in this position, you must be an experienced and collaborative team player with strong organizational and analytical skills. 

Location: RIO is based in Bismarck, ND. The preferred location for this position is within the state of North Dakota, with the availability to telecommute to Bismarck, ND. There’s potential that a remote work arrangement outside the state of North Dakota may be considered for the successful candidate.

Summary of Work: 
  • Review and reconcile investment manager data against custodian bank data and investment consultant data.
  • Reconcile and report daily investment activity.
  • Prepare periodic investment performance measurement reporting and ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure investment client funds are in compliance with stated asset allocation policy targets, provide recommendations for rebalancing and process associated cash flows.
  • Review and reconcile master custodian’s investment reporting for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review and verify prepared reports allocating investment earnings and expenses of pooled investment accounts for the SIB.
  • Process cash transfers for investment clients.
  • Reconcile and post investment activity to general ledger and create monthly financial statements. 
  • Prepare investment related work papers and accounting reports for the internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with preparation of the agency’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 annually commensurate with experience. This role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive compensation plan based on performance.

Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a business-related field and three years of professional accounting experience.
