Deputy Chief Benefit Officer
The Teacher Retirement System of Texas continues to grow to meet the needs of our members. We are currently seeking two individuals to serve as Deputy Directors in our Benefit Services division.  Applicants should be passionate about serving public education employees during their career and into their retirement. If you are a highly motivated, proven leader with a strong background in customer service, then this could be the role for you.
 
The Deputy Chief Benefit Officer (DCBO) positions are responsible for the executive management of a section of the Benefit Services division. The role will provide direction and guidance in strategic operations, planning and administration of departments, evaluating business processes and procedures, and monitoring division production and performance goals. One DCBO position will provide oversight and administration of the Member Education and Benefit Counseling departments. The other DCBO position will provide oversight and administration of the Benefit Accounting and Benefit Processing departments. These positions will proactively work with Benefit Services staff, agency employees and TRS members. 
 
TRS is hiring for two Deputy Chief Benefit Officers. The selected applicant will be offered the role that best meets the needs of the division.

Account Services:

Member Services: 
The Deputy Chief Benefit Officer is responsible for the executive management of a section of the Benefit Services division. The role provides direction and guidance for strategic operations, planning, and administration of the Member Education and Benefit Counseling departments; evaluates business processes and procedures; and monitors divisional production and performance goals. This position will proactively work with Benefit Services staff, agency employees and members of the public.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

Required Education
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business, public administration or closely related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent and additional full-time managerial experience in public pension administration or closely related field may substitute for the required education on an equivalent year-for-year basis.

Required Experience
• Nine (9) years of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience managing staff operations in insurance, pension administration, governmental services, customer service or other related industry.
• Five (5) years of experience in a management capacity, required (experience may be concurrent).

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in administration of similar-sized public pension plans.
• Experience and knowledge of call center operations.
• Advanced degree in public or business administration, or related field.
• Current certification in related areas, such as Certified Government Benefits Administrator (CGBA) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS).
