DESCRIPTION:
The State Employees’ Retirement System (“PennSERS” or “SERS”) seeks a trusted and experienced audit leader from a public accounting background with investment accounting or investment auditing experience to serve as our Internal Audit Director. As the Director, you will work closely with the Retirement Board’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and you will supervise a small team of three internal auditors.
The agency is undertaking our very first internal control (SOC 1, Type 2) audit, to be completed by the end of 2025, in accordance with PA Act 2020-128. Apply for our Internal Audit Director opening – you could be the one that leads SERS through to a successful audit outcome!
The Internal Audit Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the agency’s complex investment audit activities and the general internal audit functions of operations, finance, and IT systems to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls. The Director determines compliance with selected policies, procedures, and regulations and prepares written recommendations and reports to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the control systems of the functions reviewed. Position responsibilities necessitate regular consultation with Board members, external auditors, specialists, and staff at all levels to promote good business practices.
Telework Eligibility: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.
Your alternate worksite (telework location) must be in Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the opportunity to report to the headquarter office in Harrisburg.
