Position Information

The California State Teachers’ Retirement System is seeking to fill its Assistant Director of Retirement Readiness position. As a part of CalSTRS senior leadership, the Assistant Director of Retirement Readiness is responsible for policy formulation, implementation, leadership and administration of member education and defined contribution programs and has direct oversight of statewide Member Service Centers and field offices. This opportunity has a direct impact on securing the financial future of California’s public K-12 and community college educators. CalSTRS is seeking a candidate that has seasoned leadership experience with the following:

• Experience and proven success managing leaders in a high-performing culture by cultivating a shared vision and empowering employees to translate that vision into action.
• Effectively communicate Defined Benefit, Defined Benefit Supplement and Cash Balance Benefit programs to CalSTRS members, employers and staff.
• Participate as a strategic leader while anticipating and mitigating risks.
• Develop retirement policies and procedures, while analyzing retirement program implementation issues and developing effective solutions.
• Provide high-level oversight of operation, staffing and management structures for CalSTRS offices across California.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for the Assistant Director of Retirement Readiness (Career Executive Assignment) is $124,320–$148,092. Placement in the salary range will be dependent on the incumbent’s experience and qualifications. The State of California provides comprehensive benefits packages including:
