The State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS) is seeking a detail orientated, hands-on, and proactive Assistant Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for the management of the overall accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting activities of SERS’ three benefit plans which include, a multi-billion dollar Defined Benefit Plan, a recently created Defined Contribution Plan, and a Deferred Compensation Plan.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Under the strategic guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Chief Financial Officer oversees the complex investment and general accounting operations of the agency. This position directs the contribution, benefit/distribution, investment, and budgeting activity for the Defined Benefit Plan which has an approximate value of $31 billion and membership of over 240,000, the new Defined Contribution Plan which opened for enrollment on January 1, 2019, and the Deferred Compensation Plan which has assets exceeding $3.9 billion with over 57,000 participants.
